A mock exam that mirrors the real thing

What this mock exam reproduces

The test you have just started follows the official Belgian format: 50 multiple-choice questions, each read out before you get 15 seconds to answer, and the real marking scheme — 1 point off for a minor fault, 5 points for a serious one. The pass mark is 41 out of 50.

The rule that catches out most candidates is not the total but the serious faults: two of them mean a fail, even with a score above the threshold. Third- and fourth-degree offences and speeding are among them. Our mock exam flags them in the correction, so you can see straight away which mistakes are the expensive ones.

No account is needed — not to sit the test, not to see your score, not to read the corrections. You can start it again as often as you like: the questions change with every draw.

How the official exam works

The exam is taken on a computer at an approved test centre, by appointment. Questions are read out in French, Dutch or German, depending on the language chosen when booking. Expect around €15 per attempt, and the same again for every retake.

You can sit the category B exam from the age of 17. Once passed, the certificate remains valid for 3 years: that is your window to apply for a provisional licence and take the practical test.

After two failures, the rules require 12 hours of theory lessons at an approved driving school before you may sit it again. That is the most concrete reason to prepare properly for the first attempt.

Revising before your next attempt

A mock exam measures your level, it does not build it. When one topic keeps coming back in your mistakes — right of way, road signs, speed — go through it calmly in the course before starting another test.

Frequently asked questions about the mock exam

Is the mock exam really free and registration-free?
Yes. The 50 questions, your score and the explained corrections are all available without creating an account and without giving an email address. Paid access only unlocks the full question bank and unlimited exams.
Are these the same questions as the official exam?
No, and nobody may lawfully provide them: the official questions are not public. Ours are written from the Belgian highway code and follow the same format, the same topics and the same marking scheme as the real exam.
How many times can I retake the mock exam?
As often as you like. The draw changes every time you start and favours questions you have not seen yet.
Why only 15 seconds to answer?
Because that is the real timing of the exam. The clock only starts once the question has been read out, exactly as at the test centre. You can switch it off under “Customise” to practise without pressure.
Can I practise in French or Dutch?
Yes, the question bank is available in English, French and Dutch. Note that the official exam itself is only held in French, Dutch or German — the English version is there to help you revise.
